2017 Client Survey - Results
November 10, 2017
2017 Client Survey: in January 2017, more than 200 clients participated in our client-satisfaction survey about their experiences using one or more of Street Health's services. Their feedback & suggestions will guide future service delivery & were featured in our Fall 2017 Newsletter.
With an average of 13,000 client visits per year, our Nursing Team helps an increasingly elderly homeless population deal with the results of overcrowded shelters, foot care issues, bed bugs & lice, frostbite & heat stroke, infectious disease, wound care & diabetes. Fatigue, stress, isolation, and poor access to stable income make all of these conditions harder to deal with.
90% of their clients report health improvements from seeing a SH Nurse.
Harm Reduction Team - 91% approval rating.
Toronto is in the midst of an opioid overdose crisis.
According to the Coroner's office, 135 people died of accidental overdoses in 2015, in 2016 we lost 179.
Although the city & the province are aware of the problem, solutions are not keeping pace. Our Harm Reduction Support Workers (formerly known as peer workers), have expanded their services beyond the distribution of supplies for safe drug-use & educational outreach in response to this growing crisis. All team members have been trained in First Aid & CPR, Naloxone overdose response, they've opened an evening drop-in, and conduct community street outreach. The philosophy behind Harm Reduction has always been about providing support & reducing harmful effects...now it is also about literally saving lives.
