Spring Message from Street Health’s ED
April 28, 2015
At Street Health we are focused on a number of renewal projects for the spring. The Board and staff are engaged in developing a strategic planning process, which will guide our priorities over the next 3 years. Evaluation of our services and client feedback is a continuous commitment which was made possible in part by a grant from PriceWaterHouse Coopers. In keeping with this focus, the Nursing team has evaluated their current nursing and foot care clinic locations and have made significant changes to where we provide services to better meet our client’s needs (see website for details). We have created a Nurse Practitioner position which provides enhanced nursing services. We have also expanded our Harm Reduction outreach activities as a result of a new partnership with HouseLink and Toronto Community Housing to provide additional supports in the community. In partnership with Fred Victor Centre, we will also be providing nursing supports at the 24 hour drop in for women which is scheduled to open this spring.
We are planning to undergo a physical renovation of our Coach House to make it wheelchair accessible as many of our clients have mobility challenges. This is made possible in part to a generous donation from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Street Health has been very busy working with many clients. Through an enhancement grant from the Echo Foundation, we are able to offer client and peer activities over this past year including a spring camping trip.
Each day, we see approximately 115 clients who require personal care supplies, warm winter supplies such as socks, mitts, hats, long underwear and sleeping bags. These supplies are vital and only available as a result of the generosity of our individual donors and foundations, such as the Sprott Foundation and the United Way.
None of our work would be possible without your generosity and for that we are grateful.
