Canada's Poisoned Drug Crisis, A call to action.

November 11, 2022

The poisoned drug crisis continues to worsen, claiming 8 Ontarians a day from all walks of life. Too often we become numb to statistics when we hear the latest news about fatal overdoses, we must never forget every number represents a person, a human being with hopes and dreams, a family in mourning, or a loved one who will never return home. These numbers are members of our community, they are someone’s brother, sister, mother, father, best friend, or lifeline.

We refuse to sit idly by and let these unnecessary deaths take place, it is time to act. Street Health has teamed up with Fairlawn Avenue United  Embrace Action team to develop the attached model advocacy letters. We urge everyone to use these letter templates and address them to the relevant Provincial and Federal authorities (contact information attached)

The fight to eliminate the poisoned drug crisis needs public pressure. We hope you will add your voice!

Fairlawn Avenue United Church has been a vigorous ally in the fight to end overdose deaths, they have witnessed firsthand the devastation Canada's antiquated drug policy has given birth to and have dedicated time and energy to help support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We are so grateful for their leadership and support during these challenging times.
