Street Health is a not-for-profit organization in downtown east Toronto that works to improve the health and wellbeing of people who are homeless and under-housed by addressing the social determinants of health through our innovative nursing, mental health, harm reduction, overdose prevention, safer supply, outreach, identification replacement programs and through our advocacy, education, and research.

Street Health’s seeking an Executive Director (ED) who will provide visionary and inclusive leadership and champion the interests of people who are homeless and/or struggle with substance use and mental health challenges. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will create and execute strategic and operational plans, execute fundraising goals, build on and develop important relationships in the community and with key stakeholders, and work effectively with a committed staff, management team, and Union. The ED will be a passionate and effective advocate for social justice and equity issues.

This individual will have played a senior leadership role in the not-for-profit, health, or social services sector where relationship building and partner development is evidenced. The ED will bring exemplary advocacy and communication skills including managing Government and media relations. As a seasoned people leader and manager, this person will have had experience working with a Board of Directors and has expertise in fundraising, financial planning, and oversite and human resources.

With a minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience, the ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have successfully led people and strategy in a rapidly changing and complex environment. The candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and will be an effective communicator operating collegially and collaboratively. Knowledge of community-based health or social service provision, harm reduction, mental health, and health equity is essential. Knowledge of the local environment, including our many partner agencies, is considered an asset.
