We Are Recruiting a New Board Member Position- Treasurer
Street Health is a community-based agency providing innovative physical and mental health programs
and advocacy to homeless and insecurely housed men and women in downtown Toronto for over 35
years. Street Health is recruiting new members to participate on the Board of Directors. The Board of
Directors is a volunteer community board. If you are interested in contributing to Street Health and are
interested in governance this could be an opportunity for you.
Mission: Street Health improves the health and well-being of people who are homeless, under-housed
and street-involved through low barrier, accessible and equitable services, community-based advocacy
Vision: A community where everyone has equitable access to quality health care, housing, income and
services necessary to achieve health and well-being.
Values: Social Justice and Advocacy; Diversity and Equity; Collaboration and Innovation;
Client-Centered Low Threshold Care; Harm Reduction Approach.
Board Member Responsibilities:
•Attend monthly Board meetings on the second Tuesday of the month
•10 meetings a year including the Annual General Meeting in June.
•Review materials in advance of the meetings
•Participate in at least one committee of the Board
•Ensure that the organization adheres to its mission, values, and vision
•Review policies and procedures as applicable and monitor strategic goals
•Work collaboratively with other Board members and with the Executive Director.
•Have a commitment to support the mission, vision, and values of Street Health
•Be 18 years of age or older
•Not be a staff or family member of a staff
We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience in financial management related
to the not-for-profit sector. The Board welcomes applications from people with a diverse set of skills
and experiences and are interested in Board members that reflect the diversity of the communities we
serve. We strongly encourage individuals from equity-seeking groups to self-identify in terms of age,
gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status or class, Indigenous status, racial/ethnic
identity, disability, the experience of migration, etc. We are also interested in applicants with an
•Harm reduction with emphasis on those with lived experience
•Not for profit governance experience
•Population health and equity
